John Bercow

John Bercow is the former Speaker of the House of Commons. MP for Buckingham 1997 – 2019, John has first-hand experience of the many problems of the 11-plus  and its impact on overall  educational attainment.

 

Dr Mary Bousted

Mary Bousted is a former secondary school teacher and joint general secretary of the National Education Union. She is a passionate supporter of comprehensive education.

 

Danny Dorling

Danny Dorling is the Halford Mackinder Professor of Geography at the University of Oxford. A leading academic on issues of social justice and inequality, his latest book is ’Finntopia: what we can learn from the world’s happiest country.’

Thelma Walker

Thelma Walker is the former Labour MP for Colne Valley and member of the Education Select Committee. A former primary school head, her current roles include coordinator for Labour Against Private Schools and member of the NEC for the Socialist Education Association.

The event will be chaired by Comprehensive Future’s Chair, Dr Nuala Burgess.
