Fair admissions
We believe that every member of a community should have a fair and equal choice of good local schools. No state school should deny entry to a child because they did not score highly in a test, and all local schools should have transparent and fair admissions.
Inclusive education
We believe schools should reflect their communities, with a mix of pupils of all abilities and backgrounds. Children learn through the friendships they make at school, so schools should offer a mix of pupils from diverse backgrounds.
All ability secondary education
We would like to see an end to grammar schools and schools that select pupils using admission tests. Comprehensive schools can successfully offer academic challenge for pupils of all abilities. Most countries in the world educate pupils together at secondary level, there is no need to divide children at eleven.
