A letter in the Independent 10.2.2006 from five headteachers of non selective schools in Kent, a fully selective local authority, called on the Government to move now to ‘end front door selection’ as well as selection the back door.

At Blackpool today (11.2.2006) Labour MP David Chaytor speaking at a fringe meeting at the Labour Spring conference in Blackpool will support that call.

David, a member of the education select committee and chair of the fair admissions campaign Comprehensive Future will say –

following the example which the Government has set in Northern Ireland we should be setting a target date now by which selection should be ended in England.’
